The Sommeliers of Lyon Wine Tastings

Caroline Fazeli

After moving to Lyon from San Francisco, Caroline founded Lyon Wine Tastings in 2018.

​

Caroline got her start in wine at the University of Oxford, where she competed in the Varsity Blind Tasting Match in 2009. She then went on to spend her career in wine in London, Paris, and San Francisco.

​

Caroline holds the Wine & Spirits Education Trust Diploma.

​

Caroline is on maternity leave for winter 2025.

Madeleine Wheelock

Madeleine’s passion for French wines has led her from harvest work to sommelier roles across the US and France.

​

Trained in sommellerie, management, and business at Le Cordon Bleu Paris and the University of Reims, she now focuses on sharing her knowledge and helping others understand and appreciate the thrill of French wine.

Nicolas Fouilleroux

Before becoming a freelance wine educator, Nicolas worked in a Parisian wine bar as a sommelier, then in corporate events before being hired by a wine shop dedicated to wines of the world in Paris.

​

He holds certifications in wines such as WSET Diploma and French Wine Scholar.

 

After 3 years in Burgundy, he is now based in Lyon.

Ghjulia Campinchi

From Corsica, Ghjulia grew up in a restaurant, where she found her passion for gastronomy and wine.

​

Since moving to Lyon, she has worked in wine shops, as a sommelier in fine dining restaurants, and wine bars.

 

She loves working directly with producers and sharing their stories with her deep knowledge of winemaking.

Marie Ponsonnet

Marie grew up in Bordeaux to winemakers at Château Bourgneuf in Pomerol.

 

After studying journalism at the
Sorbonne, she returned to wine, working in Paris with Cercle Wine Business and BFM’s
In Vino.

 

In New York, she worked as a sommelier at 3 Michelin Star Le Bernardin before co-founding Colète wine in Napa.


Now in Lyon, she advises brands and restaurants on wine programs.

Margaret Rose Sridar

Margaret Rose is a sommelier with 10 years experience in education. She is a ceritified French Wine Scholar with the Wine Scholar Guild.

 

Originally from Wisconsin, her wanderlust took her to St Andrews, then New York, London, and now Lyon. 

 

Captivated by geography and history behind the bottle, she believes drinking wine is a cultural experience.

 

Margaret Rose is on maternity leave through spring 2025.
