Lyon Wine Tastings is run by expert sommelier Caroline Conner, otherwise known online as Wine Dine Caroline. Hi, that's me! You can learn more about me here.
I've been living in Lyon since 2017 and started Lyon Wine Tastings in 2018 after seeing that there was no wine tourism in the actual city, ie that didn't make you spend all day in the car. Now I love visiting vineyards too, but in a place as special as Lyon that most people are visiting just for a couple days, I figured we could use a faster, more in depth wine experience that covered all of Lyon's wine regions instead of just one.
I buy your wines direct from the vineyards or from trusted local suppliers, and I work with only the best. My producers are good farmers who care deeply about the environment, good winemakers who make excellent wine, and nice people!

I host you in my gorgeous loft apartment, a converted silk factory from the early 1800s. It's cozy in the winter and air conditioned in the summer. My very cute dog Buffy also lives here.

About Caroline Conner
Your Expert Wine Teacher
Hi! I'm Caroline, and I love teaching people about wine.
I've been in the wine business for 15 years so I know exactly how confusing and intimidating wine can be.
I'm a multi-passionate wine entrepreneur. Right now I host tastings and tours, run wine retreats, teach 4th year students of the International Wine and Beverage program at the Institut Paul Bocuse, have a podcast, and a youtube channel.
Originally from San Francisco, I got into wine during my undergrad in archaeology & anthropology at the University of Oxford, where I did competitive blind wine tasting. After that I stayed in London to study cooking at Le Cordon Bleu, and then sold wine to bars and restaurants for a couple years. I completed my Wine & Spirits Education Trust Level 4 Diploma in 2012.
I love cooking, karaoke, skiing, and Lyon.

THE WINES
I choose all of my wines for their quality and alignment with my wine philosophy.
I get my wines directly from the vineyards or trusted local merchants, and only work with small, artisan winemakers.
My winemakers are committed to sustainability and the environment.
My cellar is dynamic and always changing!
THE CHEESE
Cheeses come from Fromagerie Galland.
Monsieur Galland is well known in the neighborhood as having the best cheese around.
I only serve local French cheeses of the highest deliciousness.
THE MEAT
I only serve you the best, and am proud to work with Charcuterie Sibilia.
Widely acknowledged as the best charcuteur in Lyon, Maison Sibilia has been at the heart of Lyon's soul and kitchens since 1922.
BREAD
I get fresh bread from local artisan bakeries every morning.
My favorite bakeries include Partisan, Ô Fournil des Artistes, and Maison Jolivet.
I choose slow fermented, sourdough breads because they taste better and they're better for us.
I have a 5 star rating on TripAdvisor and on Google, which is because these tastings are awesome.

She speaks English, which made the class easier for us to enjoy. As a wine novice, I was nervous I wouldn’t fully enjoy the experience, but Caroline did a great job explaining a lot of new concepts and provided a wide variety of wines for us to try. Tasting is in Lyon, which my party preferred as we didn’t want to spend a full day on a wine tour in wine country. When in doubt, contact me! I will respond to you. I'm always on my phone. Not during tastings though, don't worry.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: I understand that life/terrifying pandemics happen. You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance with a full refund of your ticket price. I also accept re-bookings.
Q: Can you recommend stuff to do in Lyon?

Q: What language are the tastings in?
A: Lyon Wine Tastings are in English, but Franglish can be accommodated.
Q: Where do you get your wines from?
A: I get all my wines directly from the vineyards. Learn more about my suppliers here.
Q: My dates aren't showing up in the calendar.
A: I am probably out of town, but call or email me just in case!
Q: Can I bring my kids to your tastings?
A: Children aren't invited to my tastings for logistical reasons. Mostly it's cause I live in a studio, there's nowhere to put kids and I don't have any electricity in the cellar so they wouldn't be very happy down there either.
Q: I'm visiting the region and want some recommendations, do you offer concierge services?
